Carey Olsen
Carey Olsen is a Channel Islands law firm advising international
corporations and institutional clients on matters of Jersey and
Guernsey law.
The firm has over 300 people including over 140 fee earning
staff. There are two large, state of the art, offices in Jersey and
Guernsey and a smaller office in London, which practises both
Jersey and Guernsey law. The majority of legal practitioners in the
firm were originally qualified in the UK, and the firm maintains
English or Scottish practising certificates even for those who have
gone on to re-qualify locally as Jersey or Guernsey Advocates.
Carey Olsen's focus is on the Channel Islands where we aim to be
the legal firm of choice across all practice areas. We are
recognised as a top-tier law firm by respected industry
publications such as The Legal 500 and Chambers and the reputation
of our service is further endorsed by the industry awards we have
won. Chambers and Partners recently recognised the firm's ethos in
its 2010 report; "It is like dealing with a magic circle firm
outside London."
Our largest practice area is Corporate and Finance, which
advises corporates, banks and funds on global transactions with
offshore implications. Litigation is also a key area, with a strong
focus on financial services, regulatory and trust disputes. The
Fiduciary practice largely advises corporate trustees on a
contentious and non-contentious basis. The firm also does local
Channel Islands based work such as Property, Personal Law and
Public Law.
As the largest practice our Corporate Group has the most
opportunities for Scottish qualified lawyers from newly qualified
level up to around 5PQE.
Joiners to the firm will enjoy a salary package, which taking
the generous Channel Island tax regime into account, is on a par
with top London levels and a transparent Performance Bonus Scheme,
along with a package of benefits including Private Medical
Insurance, Life Assurance, Permanent Health Insurance and an active
subsidised Sports and Social Club. The firm also provides a
generous package of financial and practical support to relocaters
including eight weeks accommodation upon arrival, flights to and
from the UK and tax free relocation allowance.
