Finding good, reliable trades people has always been something of a lottery. But no longer.  A new home improvement website www.decision2day.com has been set up to give Yorkshire consumers peace of mind and help them find trades people they can trust. 

So anyone searching for, say, a plumber will, after inputting his or her postcode, be given a list of plumbers closest to where he or she lives.   Crucially, each tradesman listed will, in due course, have a star rating based on their customers’ feedback on the quality of the work, value for money, reliability etc.

To provide consumers with increased security, all tradesmen who sign up to the website will have adequate insurance. Consumers will also be able to view feedback on work previously done by a listed tradesman.

Importantly, the site will be a source of valuable information for consumers and will include a number of key features such as DIY tips and advice on planning and building regulations, energy efficiency, money-saving ideas and availability of grants.

Decision2day is the brainchild of Barnsley property developer and entrepreneur Antony Green.  “I have spent most of my working life involved in the building industry and have been aware for a while of the need for a service of this kind,” he said.   “By listing tradespeople whom other consumers are willing to recommend, we will end the risk of people employing rogues and significantly reduce the uncertainty and potential unhappiness involved in employing someone whom you’ve not used before.

The website is being launched initially just in Yorkshire but, once it is established, it is planned to roll out the concept to the rest of the country.
